We went to China in 2007 to meet or second daughter and our little sister. Our oldest travelled with us and was 4½ at the time. On the same day that we were to meet our little girl we were taken to see a local artist. It proved to be a wonderful visit. A great distraction for us adults who were about to become parents again within a few hours and for our oldest daughter it was a true highlight when the artist showed her the traditional art of papercutting. She was a very patient teacher and our daughter watched her very carefully. They didn't speak the same language but communicated deeply anyway. Our daughter was so happy during the whole visit and she did very well. She still remembers how to do it just the way she was taught that day almost three years ago.
This might not be the best photo I've taken of my girls on the beach but it sure makes me laugh every time I look at it. The little one was screaming her head off because she was cold and the oldest...well I think she was trying to dive in that really shallow water.
We went to our nation's capitol and had a whole lot of fun. The weather was great, we visited museums and the castle and had lots of icecream but this....this was the absolute highlight for our oldest.
I just love her more serious face. She is only 4 years old and hasn't started to "pose" that much for me yet. I love to catch her in the moment just like she really is.
